Hi like-minded Vespa fans,
I started riding Vespas 15 years ago, but after a gap of 10 years have one again. Slight understatement. Just over a year ago some friends and I decided we'd buy old Vespas, restore them and make some money on the side. To date we've bought 6 had quite a few evenings tinkering, drinking too much red wine and sold none. They range from a 1958 VBB to a 1976 Vespa Sprint Veloce in various states of restoration. One thing led to another and we've now bought the oldest Vespa service shop in Cape Town (South Africa), I quit my job and I took over running the shop two days ago. All very rapid, mid-life crisis my friends say in jest, actually I'm just after some fun in my life, tired of the corporate world and needing a change.
I'm hoping I'll be able to exchange knowledge with other Vespa people around the world.
Wish me luck.
Rob

Hi,
My name is Renzo and I live in Adelaide, South Australia. A few years ago I bought a 1959 Vespa VBA 150 with the intention to restore it. I loved driving it so much I couldn't bear to take it off the road. About two years ago I blew the clutch and decided that was the time to start the restoration. I have recently completed it and got it back on the road. This is a complete restoration from the ground up - I even repainted it in the original colour. Attached is a photo of the Vespa as it was when a bought it, and one of the finished product. I wish I had found this site a long time ago!

hi Peter from the North East of the UK my rideout is a 1982 P200E in origional factory condition and my project is a 1952 Douglas Rod as complete as could be hoped for for such an old girl. currently siezed hoping to have her running for next season. i am leaving her in the condition she was found in as I think restoring will just put another new old scoot on the road and we will loose her individuality brought out by her rust and scars :-)

Hi my name is Ian I am new to the forum. I just bought an '81 100. Looking for anyone in my area or any clubs in my area. I will need all the help I can get. Vespa runs but will not stay running. Needs various parts but looks pretty good. I have always wanted a Vespa. I will need any info on registering in Mass and what issues I might have as I dont think its been reg'd since 1987. I think the mileage is true, has 3k supposedly repainted (baby blue) supposedly engine rebuilt. Seat was newly covered. I will post pictures asap. Any help appreciated and I look forward to being a part of this forum.
Thanks
Thanks

Welcome Ian,
First off, I would clean the carb. Sounds like either the idle circuit is clogged or the rpms are not set high enough. Am running into the same problem and had to clean the carb in a carb dip cleaner since the spray carb cleaner didn't do the job the first time. Those teenie tiny passages get plugged up and won't let the scoot idle.
Good luck. Lots of folks in Boston area that could help you out....Anyone?

Just got back to the east coast from Las Vegas the beginning of this year and ready to get my dad's 1977 P200E going again. Having trouble finding a good shop that will still work on the old scooters, so would appreciate a recommendation. I'm in the Ft. Lauderdale area.
