The electrical system on my PX150E (year 2000) is somewhat of a mystery to me.
Do the headlights, for instance, operate on DC or AC ?
I replaced the headlight assembly with a new Piaggio one using H4 globes. I fitted a new Hella 35W/35W globe. It lasted all of two weeks (perhaps 300 km) before blowing. My measurements with a multimeter seem to indicate that the power supply to the light is AC. I'm wondering whether this might explain the short lifespan of the globe --- the filament might not take kindly to rapidly fluctuating voltage.
If this is indeed the case, will it help if I install a rectifier in the headlight circuit ?
Any advice, especially an authoritative explanation of the electrical system on my Vespa, will be highly appreciated.
