Changed cruciform... now clutch won't disengage

Hi all. New here but used to go on the old BBS (I miss that place)

Anyway, my scooter kept jumping out of 4th gear, so I changed the cruciform (split the cases with engine still in the bike) and now when I pull the clutch in I can't spin the rear wheel in any gear (it's still up on blocks). There is a chance I put the gears in the wrong way around, but they all lined up nicely with the christmas tree.

It goes into neutral and all the gears with no problem.

I did change the clutch cable, and I think it's tight enough... but maybe it's not? I'm hoping it's as simple as this or maybe something else (I also effed a bit with the gear selector cables). I really don't want to split the engine again and I'm afraid to start it and put it in gear. I have my license test in a couple days so really need to figure this out.

It's a '72 Sprint with a kitted (210) P200

Cheers

Hello,
assuming the clutch has been assembled properly and you did remember to put in the push rod on the clutch cover plate, this can be checked without splitting the crank. I would start there if you have checked the cables.

Thanks dudley1972 but I didn't even remove the clutch.

Hey Darrell,
if you haven't disturbed the clutch then you might well have put the gears in the wrong way around, can you get it into neutral alright? also did you remember the thick shim that goes on the end of the gearbox?

Hey Jayson,

Yeah I'm sure this is the problem. It's been in storage all winter but as soon as I can I will be splitting the cases again and sorting the gears out.

Cheers,

Darrell
